Healthwatch Hertfordshire’s Annual Report 2014/15
It is important that more people in Hertfordshire know who we are and what we do and how to contact us. Read about the work that we have been doing this year to promote this across the County.
We aspire to represent and speak for the million plus people of this County to ensure that their voice is heard. Our ambition in the coming years is to become more representative and more focussed in making better use of the resources we have on behalf of those we represent.
Healthwatch Hertfordshire continues to value and build on the strong relationships we have with providers and commissioners of health and care services locally. We see our role as a critical friend to our partners; we raise issues, provide feedback and challenge - while supporting organisations to improve and ensure that the patient is always at the centre.
Engagement activity during the year included:
- At the request of colleagues in health and social care, we managed a project to find out more about concerns with regard to information sharing. We gathered views from people about the way they collect and communicate health information. The report made recommendations for change including a review of literature used by partners for information sharing and a review of staff training.
- Support with implementation of the Hertfordshire Transgender Health Needs Assessment (HTNA). Recommendations included involvement with setting up an internet site with accurate advice for the Transgender Community and ongoing awareness with the public in order to combat stigma and discrimination.
